Welcome to the Targa Trophy 2009 Triple Crown Rally Event Series presented by Modern Luxury. Now in our third year, Targa Trophy has expanded our profile and established North America's only rally event series where driving/navigating prowess can win you big rewards and even bigger bragging rights.

The Triple Crown Series is comprised of three first class automotive lifestyle events taking place in Orange County (Sat. May 30), San Diego (Sat. June 27) and finishing with a bang in Los Angeles (Sat. October 3 - Date TBC). Your mission - should you choose to accept it - will be to finish each event as accurately as possible in order to maintain your highest ranking in the field of 100 cars. Each event will award trophies/prizes for the top 7 finishers. Points will accumulate between each event, and at the finale in Los Angeles the winner of the Targa Trophy 2009 Triple Crown Rally Event Series will be crowned and cement your place in rally event lore!

This year, the organizers of the Targa Trophy 2009 Triple Crown Rally Event Series have gone out of their way to collaborate with venues that will allow us to produce events that will be an experience unlike any other - combining a world class field of cars and drivers, a unique rally/game format where driving/navigation accuracy is key, plus unparalleled parties and social events that will be sure to expand the profile of automotive lifestyle culture, and make your experience in the Targa Trophy one of the highlights of your year.

Entry Info

This year we have organized each Targa Trophy 2009 Triple Crown Series event for maximum social/driving enjoyment at a price that is undeniably affordable. As usual, the Targa Trophy 2009 Triple Crown events are all inclusive. Your only requirement is to bring the proper machinery, a good attitude, and enjoy the ride!

If you are receiving this message, you are one of the original Targa Trophy participants/applicants. Because of this, we are offering a discounted rate from the regular event fees that will be good for your team's entry fees only.

Original Targa Trophy members: Per Event Entry Fee - $795 Triple Crown Series Entry Fee (all 3 events paid in advance) - $2250

The pricing above is only good for existing members/applicants of the Targa Trophy and are not transferrable. Respectively, the entry fees for new members will be $895 per event and $2500 for a Triple Crown Series reservation.

You may sign up on a per event basis, although we highly recommend if you are serious about being a part of the Triple Crown Series, to sign up in advance for all three events and secure your slot in the championship and prepare for the events ahead. There will be only 100 slots available per event, slots are first come first serve and we anticipate a sold out field for each event. So plan accordingly.

Formula DRIFT Round 2: Proving Ground Results; Chris Forsberg Takes the Victory and the Lead in the Tires.com Triple Crown

Long Beach, Calif. � May 11, 2009 � Formula DRIFT Round 2: Proving Ground at Road Atlanta had Chris Forsberg in the NOS Energy Drink / Maxxis Nissan 350Z claiming the victory. The win moves him into 2nd place overall in the Formula DRIFT Championship point standings and gives him the lead in the chase for the Tires.com Triple Crown bonus.

Road Atlanta, home of the inaugural Formula DRIFT event back in 2004, hosted the 2-day event weekend that was highlighted with the Formula DRIFT Pro-Am competition in association with US Drift and Round 2 of the Professional Championship series. Attendance numbers were the highest of all time for the venue and despite the chance of rain, fans from all across the South East gathered for the drifting filled weekend.

�The fans that come to Road Atlanta are some of the most dedicated and enthusiastic that we have,� said Ryan Sage, vice president of marketing and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. �The energy of this crowd could be felt and added an additional element of excitement to the event. For the last 6 years we have seen this event grow more and more and we look forward to next season.�

For the second time in his career, Chris Forsberg and the NOS Energy Drink / Maxxis Nissan 350Z took the victory at Road Atlanta. Forsberg was consistent throughout the event and fought his way through very tough competition on his way to both the event victory the point lead for the Tires.com Triple Crown bonus. Darren McNamara piloting the Falken / Sears Auto Center Saturn Sky was a close runner-up and gave a very exciting show with his aggressive and skilled driving. In third place, Ryan Tuerck in the Gardella Racing / Mobil 1 Pontiac Solstice added to his Formula DRIFT championship point lead and secured his second consecutive podium finish.

Here are our snaps from this event. Overall, a good event; not without its SNAFUs mind you; but it's a learning process and hopefully the organizers will build on the momentum of this one. In the end, 2008 D1GP champ Daigo Saito took the win over Kumakubo.

Formula DRIFT Heads to Road Atlanta for Round 2: Proving Ground; Professional and amateur drifting competitions showcased over the 2-day Drift Atlanta weekend

Long Beach, Calif. � May 5, 2009 � Formula DRIFT heads to Road Atlanta for Round 2: Proving Ground on Friday, May 8 and Saturday May 9 as part of the Drift Atlanta weekend. The 2-day event will be highlighted with both the Pro Am competition and the Formula DRIFT Pro Championship.

Formula DRIFT heads into Road Atlanta, the home of the Series' inaugural event back in 2004. Friday, May 8 will serve as a preview day with both Pro Am and the Formula DRIFT Pro Championship practice and qualifying. Saturday, May 9 is the main event and will feature both the Pro Am Top 8 competition and Formula DRIFT Pro Championship Top 32 competition. The Top 32 format is new for the 2009 season and features more action and excitement than ever before at Road Atlanta.

The Pro Am competition will feature the top drifters from the region and those hopeful to become a Formula Drift professional driver. Registration is still open and drivers can still register for this competition. More information on registration can be found on www.formuladrift.com

Along with the on-track activities the vendor village and team pits will be open and fans can meet the drivers during the autograph session at 2:30 PM on Friday. 2009 Miss Formula DRIFT Miki Taka will be in attendance for the event as well. Additionally, the JTuned.com Auto Gallery car show will take place on Saturday and fans can see some of Atlanta's hottest show cars.

Round 2: Proving Ground marks the first of three Tires.com Triple Crown events this season. The bonus prize was won last year by Rhys Millen and his victory at Road Atlanta helped lead him to his 2nd Tires.com Triple Crown trophy.

Tickets are still available for this event and start at $22 online and 2-day ticket packages are available. Tickets can be purchased via the Formula DRIFT website. Both Friday and Saturday event hours will be from 10 AM � 10 PM.

MOTUL AUTECH GT-R gets redemption with first win of the season!

PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 falls just short in disappointing 2nd

The FUJI GT 400km RACE, Round 3 of the 2009 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, took place at Fuji Speedway (one lap 4.563 km x 88 laps) in Shizuoka Pref. on May 4. The GT500 class winner was the pole-starting MOTUL AUTECH GT-R driven by Satoshi Motoyama and Benoit Treluyer, bringing the team its first victory of the 2009 season.

The race started exactly at 14:00. Despite being the second longest race on the SUPER GT schedule at 400 km, the middle stages brought close-fought battles, including the pole-starting MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (Motoyama) giving up the lead at one point to the PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 (Andre Lotterer). Still, Motoyama and later teammate Treluyer stayed right on the tail of the SC430, waiting for the chance to retake the lead. The chance came during the second routine pit stops, where the PETRONAS TOM'S team lost time in the pit works and thus allowed the tables to be turned with some fast pit work by the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R team mechanics.

With Motoyama back at the wheel of the GT-R after the second pit stop, he maintained the lead until a tense moment on the last lap when the PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 driven by Lotterer was closing in on his tail. But Motoyama managed to hold off Lotterer's charge and take the checkered first.
