Hot Import Nights Venue Change

SAVE $5 OFF YOUR TICKET
USE COUPON CODE: livesockets

Just got the notice that Hot Import Nights is moving their Los Angeles event on March 14th from Dodger Stadium to Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Apparently the Dodger organization doesn't like the fact that HIN features hip hop music in their event programming. Lame! The Dodgers should focus more on getting into the post season than trying to ban hip hop. Check out the official website for full event info.

Here's the message from the HIN site on this matter:

---------------

Due to the Dodger organization’s issues with our current HIN entertainment (Hip-Hop music, show hours, loud music, etc.) we have changed our venue for our March 14th event to the Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

We made the change to the Angel Stadium of Anaheim to ensure the delivery of the true HIN experience as our fans have come to expect.

We look forward kicking off our 11th season at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

See you on the 14th of March!

Rally America 100 Acre Wood Results

Ken Block wins again at 100 Acre Wood

Subaru Rally Team USA driver Ken Block took the win at the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in southern Missouri this weekend.

“I love the flow of the stages of this event,” said Block at the finish. “I love the high speeds.”

Block’s flat-out style is well-suited to this fast and flowing event and he’s proven tough to beat here. He and co-driver Alex Gelsomino have now won this event four times in a row.

NOS Energy’s Andrew Comrie-Picard finished in second place in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX after a tight battle with Rockstar Energy’s Tanner Foust in his new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.

By midday on Saturday, Comrie-Picard and co-driver Robbie Durant led Foust and co-driver Chrissie Beavis by just a tenth of a second, but they extended the gap as the weather worsened during the final stages of the contest.

“I feel awesome,” said Comrie-Picard. “The car was perfect and our Yokohama winter tires gave us an edge when the snow started coming down.”

Just saw this video of our friend Calvin Wan sliding the FD3S around Thunderhill at a recent event. We can't wait to see him in the new Falken S15 drift car that he will be campaigning this year.

Prodrive Selling McRae WRC Car

A bunch of people alerted us to a post by Prodrive stating that they were going to sell off a bunch of WRC and Group N rally cars in their possession including Colin McRae's original '97 GC8 WRC car at a ridiculously low price of £85,000 ($123,000 USD).

As of this post, the car appeared to have been sold already. However, there are a bunch of other rally cars that you can buy from Prodrive as they try to sell off some excess inventory. Here's a link to the cars for sale.

Marcus Gronholm WRC Return

Double World Rally Champion Marcus Gronholm has decided to come out of retirement to contest April’s Rally Portugal in a Subaru Impreza WRC.

The Finn, 41, will drive a latest specification Impreza run by Prodrive, with backing from Rally Portugal and its sponsor Vodafone. He will be co-driven by his navigator since 1995, Timo Rautiainen.

The appearance - which for now is being billed as a one-off - will be Gronholm’s first entry in a WRC rally since his retirement after Wales Rally GB in 2007.

“I made the decision a few days ago,” Gronholm told wrc.com. “It’s okay to come back again. Everybody is looking at me, and maybe I’m stupid, but to have fun and drive again, why not?”

Gronholm, who has won 30 WRC rallies, has taken part in the last two editions of Rally Portugal, driving a Ford Focus WRC on both occasions: in 2007 as a Ford factory team driver - when he finished fourth - and in 2008 driving the event safety car.

Nurburgring: Anatomy of a Lap

There is a really cool article in Road & Track about the Nürburgring where they dissect and analyze every section of the 'Ring. It even describes the scenery as you're driving through each section.

"Nürburgring's Nordschleife is the original 13-mile circuit built in the 1920s. With turns too numerous (and sometimes too subtle) to count, it would take our whole magazine to go through the intricacies of each corner. Here, we've done our best to compress a lap of the Ring in a new Corvette ZR1 into its well-known sections, the names of which are actually posted around the circuit."
