WRC Rookie Interviews

Saw these interviews with Kimi Raikkonen and Ken Block on WRC.com today. Here are short excerpts from both drivers' press session. Please visit WRC.com for the full interviews.

Ken Block

What are you looking forward to most about the 2010 WRC season?
"Getting to drive a World Rally Car. It's the epitome of what a rally car should be and it's by far the most amazing thing that I'll ever be able to drive. I want to cover as many miles as I can in this type of car before they go away in 2011."

Chris Atkinson was linked to a drive with the Monster World Rally Team in 2010. Will that happen?
"We really tried to work out some deals to get him in the team this year. I really like Chris, he's a really good guy and an amazing driver, but unfortunately the deals didn't come together how we wanted. We're looking to have him come out possibly for an event or two this year - we're not really sure when or where - and then looking to have him in the team for 2011. But that's all up to sponsors and what my agents can do with putting some deals together. We want the team to feature multiple drivers over the years, and Chris is someone I like and respect so we're looking to try and have him as part of the team."

DSPORT Time Attack S2000 Feature Car

We got an email alert about the new issue and this car instantly grabbed our attention. The S2000 is a pretty fun ride straight from the factory; nimble handling, buttery smooth shifting...etc; but it becomes a whole other animal when you bump up the power to 500+ whp. What's up w/ rockin' the rota's though?!?

Here's a few pics of the car from the magazine. Please visit the official website for more info on this one. Also grab the magazine off the newsstands to get the free DVD as well!

Rally America Sno*Drift Results

Defending Rally America champion Travis Pastrana skated to victory on Saturday at Sno*Drift, the incredibly slick 2010 season opener.

Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom built a solid early lead and continued to put time on the rest of the field over the course of the two-day rally –- despite a badly injured left shoulder.

"Man, I'm really excited," said Pastrana. "Everybody next rally is going to come with a sling."

Pastrana broke his collarbone last Sunday during a motocross ride and had to undergo surgery this week to plate it back together before he could drive. But, ever the optimist, Pastrana said the injury actually helped his performance.

"As slick a the roads were out here, I drove as smooth as I could – for the shoulder – and it made me focus a little bit more," he said at the finish. "It was probably the best thing that could have happened for us."

Raikkonen Crash in Arctic Lapland Rally

Pics of Raikkonen's car after the crash surfaced on RallyBuzz today. The former F1 champion was in 2nd place going into stage 2 of the rally when he crashed into a tree. The team is hoping to be able to fix the car in service so that Raikkonen could continue to get some more seat time before the opening round of the WRC in Sweden on Feb 11th.

Here's video from Juha Salo's car showing Raikkonen's car beached on the snow bank.

Kimi Raikkonen WRC C4 Livery

I saw a post on WRC.com about Kimi's livery on the C4 WRC car and dug a little deeper to find these photos on the Redbull global site. Not too shabby in typical Red Bull everywhere fashion. We're just hoping that he doesn't scuff it up too much during the course of the season. Click here for wallpaper sizes of these images.
